The Mandarin Cake Shop has been delighting customers since opening its doors in the 1970s and, to this day, remains the favoured stop for sweet treats, cakes and gourmet gift items. Yves Matthey, the hotel’s Executive Pastry Chef, is the main inspiration behind The Mandarin Cake Shop. Responsible for the production of all the cakes, breads, pastries and chocolates in the hotel, the creative and imaginative Chef Yves is understandably one of the city’s most admired chefs. The Mandarin Cake Shop is affectionately referred to as “the Cartier of cakes” due to the glass display cases containing exquisite creations ranging from chocolate handbags to dramatic wedding cakes.
