Designer with a reputation as a couturier of uncompromising standards.

One of the most influential forces in fashion and a major player in the luxury goods industry, the House of Balenciaga is renowned for the sculpted lines and architectural simplicity of its designs. Founded in 1919 by Cristóbal Balenciaga and established in Paris in 1936, Balenciaga defined many of the greatest movements in fashion from the 1930s to the 1960s. Today, Alexander Wang is the Creative Director of the House and his collections combine the simplicity and mastery of technique with a sometimes eccentric and abstract daring. Balenciaga creates and markets women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections as well as handbags and shoes, eyewear and fragrance.
