In this monumental painting, Shanghai-born artist Han Xin invites the viewer into a nuanced world of light and shadow. The willow is a recurring motif in Chinese art and a tree of great mythological significance. Han Xin brings the majestic weeping willows to life with vibrant brushwork and a crescendo of colours. The clear greens of one canvas convey the bright heat of summer.

Han Xin has studied, worked and exhibited widely in China, the United States and France and has synthesized his diverse experiences to become a master of mood and pattern. His light-filled canvassed reflect an innately confident and optimistic nature.

Hongkong Land acquired “Jade Pool Mirror” in 2011.
